Uncertainty is a common occurrence in real-world issues that often make decision-making difficult. Specifically, when it comes to managing a supply chain, the decision of which supplier to choose is complicated by a lack of information and knowledge, which leads to different levels of uncertainty in the attributes and alternatives, making it hard to make the right decision. In this article, a multi attribute decision-making method within a qualitative reasoning framework, where the assessment of problem attributes is carried out using different backgrounds and levels of experts' knowledge, is presented, and the score of the alternatives by evaluation a K-dimensional vector of qualitative labels is determined. To achieve it, the qualitative reasoning framework is first described, and then the proposed method in the same framework is described. The validity of the proposed method was verified by two practical examples. An example demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed model and the results were compared with other methods. Finally, a real example was employed to select the best supplier. The conditions for the practical example are chosen in such a way, that it cannot be solved by using the previous methods. The results of this study explain the advantage of using multiscale linguistic space over other linguistic methods and also by analyzing two practical examples, the validity of the proposed method and its advantage over other methods in the qualitative reasoning space is confirmed.

In this paper, a hybrid method based on a linear programming model for solving Multi-Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) problems by combining two new methods, the COmplex PRoportional ASsessment (COPRAS) and the Multi-Objective Optimization Ratio Analysis (MOORA) and also using the concept of discrimination intensity functions are presented. Further interaction with the Decision Maker (DM) to determine the weights of the attributes and calculate the weights by solving a linear programming problem without determining the predetermined weight are two of the advantages of the new method. In the proposed method, for each alternative, attributes are weighted with optimism for that alternative, and then alternatives are ranked through efficiency intervals. The proposed method is implemented on a real-world problem derived from the subject literature and compared with other MADM methods. The difference in the final results is evident due to the consideration of more details in determining the rankings.

The production and service functions in the innovation system emphasize producing new products. As any innovation system’s final output must ultimately produce new products and deliver new services, the considered function is essential in the innovation system. This study seeks to extract the challenges and give solutions to improve the production and deliver services in the innovation system. Producing and delivering services does not occur in a vacuum and should occur in a context called the Supply Chain (SC). In this paper, qualified experts were interviewed to discover the challenges and solutions to improve production. Fifteen elite researchers in the innovation field then discussed the results in focus sessions and refined practical solutions after an in-depth review of the extracted information. The role of responsible institutions was determined, and the necessary indicators were extracted to evaluate the factors of innovative production after providing the required infrastructure to achieve production promotion. One of the Fuzzy Multi-Attribute Decision Making (FMADM) techniques is also used to prioritize the discovered solutions based on the importance of influencing the producing promotion. Finally, a model is presented for improving the production and service functions in the innovation system. The results showed the main solution is to collaborate and create efficient integration at different SC levels.

This paper introduces a new method for organizational performance measurement. The model integrates the QEST (Quality factor + Economic, Social & Technical dimensions) and the BSC (Balanced Scorecard) models. Although the model is originally defined to measure performance in the banking industries, it can be used for almost any organization and any multi-attribute decision-making problem. It not only has a new look to the BSC perspectives but enables organizations to obtain a more reliable assessment. The model takes advantage of the QEST-3D and the BSC that lets the proposed model be easy to generalize. The research’s motivation is to obtain performance measurement based on not only the values of the indicators but the proportion of the values of the leading indicators and the lagging ones obtained by BSC. The financial perspective is considered a lagging indicator, while the other indicators are considered leading. To obtain reliability analysis, the model has been tested in 17 branches of a bank in Kurdistan province for three recent years, as a real case. The results that are compared with what is obtained from the pre-qualified TOPSIS (The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) successfully illustrate the accuracy and practicality of the proposed model. The results show that based on the correct logic proposed in the proposed method for separating and analyzing the perspectives taken from the BSC, the strategy-oriented ranking made by the proposed method is more reliable and logical than the ranking performed by the TOPSIS.

One of the most important concepts to resolve more complexities is the spherical cubic fuzzy set (SCFS) than the intuitionistic cubic fuzzy set, the Pythagorean cubic fuzzy set, and therefore its implementations are more extensive. The purpose of this article is to present the operational laws of the SCFS by taking into account the characteristics and significance of the SCFS. A number of new aggregation operators are defined as spherical cubic fuzzy weighted averaging operator, spherical cubic fuzzy ordered weighted averaging operator, spherical cubic fuzzy hybrid weighted averaging operator, using fundamental laws to aggregate the spherical cubic details. Subsequently, we present a multi-attribute decision-making method based on the proposed weighted average aggregation operators and explain the acceptable choice of supplier as a real-life problem to verify it with a numerical example. A comparative analysis is also being carried out to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.

Multi-attribute decision making (MADM) is a hot research area in fuzzy mathematics and to deal with that, the averaging and geometric aggregation operators (AOs) are the widely used tools. The aim of this manuscript is to propose the notion of averaging and geometric AOs in the environment of T-spherical fuzzy sets (TSFSs). TSFS enables the selection of grades of memberships from considerably a larger domain and hence overcome the drawbacks of the existing fuzzy frameworks. In this paper, we develop some novel operations for TSFSs including algebraic sum, product etc. Based on new operations some averaging AOs including T-spherical fuzzy weighted averaging (TSFWA) and T-spherical fuzzy weighted geometric (TSFWG) operators are developed. The monotonicity, idempotency and boundedness of the defined operators are investigated, and their fitness is validated using induction method. With the help of an illustrative example, the problem of policy decision making using a MADM algorithm is solved. The new proposed work and the existing literature is compared numerically and the advantages of the TSFWA and TSFWG operators are investigated over existing work.

In this research author reviews references related to the topic of multi criterion (goal programming, multiple objective linear and nonlinear programming, bi-criterion programming, Multi Attribute Decision Making, Compromise Programming, Surrogate Worth Trade-off Method) and various versions of vehicle routing problem (VRP), Multi depot VRP (MDVRP), VRP with time windows (VRPWTW), Stochastic VRP (SVRP), Capacitated VRP (CVRP), Fuzzy VRP (FVRP), Location VRP (LVRP), Backhauling VRP(BHVRP), Facility Location VRP (FLVRP), and Inventory control VRP (ICVRP). Although, VRP is a research area with rich research works and powerful researchers there found only 81 articles that relates various vehicle routing type problems with various multiple objectives techniques. This author found that there is no research done in some areas of VRP (i.e., FVRP, ICVRP, LRP and CVRP). It is interesting to see that this research area was completely an unattractive to master students (with zero research reported) and a somewhat attractive area to doctoral students (with 6 researches reported). Among the many multi criterion programming techniques available only three of them (goal programming, bi-criterion programming, linear and nonlinear multi objective programming) are being employed to solve the problem.

Laparoscopy or minimally-invasive surgery is a surgical technique in which the surgical operations are performed via a few small incisions. This kind of surgery has fewer complications over open surgery. Finding methods for shortening the time of laparoscopic surgeries can improve operating room efficiency. An approach to shortening the time of laparoscopic surgeries is identifying the interruptions in these surgeries and preventing from their occurrence or reducing the potential of occurrence of the identified interrupt causes. In this paper, the interrupt causes of laparoscopic surgeries are prioritized based on the identified causal relations between interrupt causes. Research population is the laparoscopic surgeries performed in Hasheminezhad kidney center in May-June 2013. For this purpose, 25 laparoscopic surgeries are observed in this hospital in this time interval. Causal relations among interrupt causes are identified from the gathered data. The main causes are identified and ranked based on Fuzzy TOPSIS method. For prioritizing the interrupt causes, frequency of occurrence, average length, severity degree, the potential of reducing interrupt occurrence and the potential of preventing interrupt occurrence are considered.Experimental results show that the most important interrupt causes in laparoscopic surgeries are staff shortage or multi-tasking staff, foggy lens, unavailable surgical instruments, dirty lens and finally low-experienced staff. Moreover, sensitivity analysis on criteria weighting show that the mentioned interrupt causes are the five most-important interrupt causes in more than 80% of the evaluated scenarios.Preventing the occurrence of the most-important interrupt causes can improve the surgical time. If it is not possible, reducing the average length of interrupts caused by the identified main causes can be considered for improvement of the operating room efficiency.

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used for calculating of relative efficiency and then ranking of decision making units (DMU) subject to inputs and outputs in a continuous decision making space. In this paper, DEA models, Cook and Kress Model and Belton-Vickers model have been applied as a multi attribute decision making (MADM) tool and compared analytically to other MADM models such as simple additive weighted (SAW) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). For this purpose, after simulating some decision making matrixes and replacing DMU with alternatives, outputs with criteria to be maximized, inputs with criteria to be minimized, alternatives will be ranked by these models. The results of this study show that incorporating decision maker value judgments into the DEA models (restricted DEA models) provide comparable results to traditional MADM models (such as SAW and TOPSIS that are applied more than others). So, restricted DEA models seem to be an advantageous tool for solving MADM problems.
