Calculating productivity growth by DEA model and Tornqvist Index (Case study: Research Institute of Petroleum Industry)

Productivity is one of the most important criteria for proper and optimal usage of production factors and achieving predetermined goals. In The 4th Development Plan of country, all organizations were required to speicfy their contribution in productivity promotion and determine necessary strategies to transform country from an input-driven economy to an efficient economy. In the general policies of The 5th Economic, Social, and Cultural Development Plan of Islamic Republic of Iran, contribution of productivity promotion was one-third. To achieve the goals, in this paper we used nonparametric methods and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model and Tornqvist index, in addition to calculating productivity growth over time, changes of technology and efficiency. The results indicated that the changes in technology and productivity growth during this period were positive, but efficiency had negative changes.
