The Relationship of Parent and Peer Attachment with Perfectionism and Academic Performance in Male High School Students in Ilam

Abstract:
The aim of the present study is to determine the relationship of parent and peer attachment with positive and negative perfectionism and academic perform ance. The method of the present study is correlational method. The statistical population of this research was all first-year high school students enrolled in Elam in 1388-1387. The sample of this study is 360 first grade، male and high schools students in Ilam. Those students are chosen by means of a stage random sampling method. Participants completed Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA)، Inventory of Perfectionism at School، and Ahwaz Perfectionism Scale (APS). The statistical methods were used in this research، simple correlation and multivariate regression analysis method. The results showed significant relationship between studied variables. The results showed that attachment to mother is the best predictor of positive and negative perfectionism and academic performance، whereas attachment to father is the best predictor of academic performance. Also، the significance level of 0/01and 0/05 is considered.
