Railroads (Case Study: Qom-Esfahan)

Message:
Abstract:
Path planning requires an extensive evaluation process to identify the best possible solution to pass the way. In a proper rail network design, some factors must be considered such as slope, land use, soil type, concentration areas, restricted areas, environmental areas, major and minor waterways, roads and faults which can affect on the railway track. The study area is the southeast and northwest of the central province of Isfahan (Muteh) from which part of the Qom-Isfahan railway track is passed. In this paper, first the design data for proposed route and the plan was evaluated. Then, according to these information and factors affecting the railway route and setting priorities through AHP method, GIS software model was designed to determine the location of the railway track. For this purpose, a number of factors influencing the rail route were studied and their digital layers were produced. Then, by using “ILWIS software”, extension of “Corridor Designer Evaluation” and “Arc Map software” models were designed. Finally, different outputs produced by these models among which designers can evaluate and select the best route between two points in the study area.
