Predicting Coache's Performance in Dealing with Problems Based on Emotional Intelligence

Message:
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate those factors predicting coaches’ performance in dealing with problems based on emotional intelligence. Research method was descriptive – correlation with regard to data analysis. Goleman Emotional Intelligence Inventory was used to measure emotional intelligence and Martens Scale was applied to examine coache's performance in dealing with problems. The statistical population consisted of coaches of those teams participating in 23rd National Sport Olympiad (N=140) and 103 participants were selected randomly based on Krejcie and Morgan Table. For data analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient was used. The results indicated that the level of emotional intelligence and coache's performance was acceptable in dealing with problems of most coaches. Also, there was a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and coaches’ performance in dealing with problems (r=0.395, P< 0.01). The results of multiple regression analysis test showed that the self -management and social skills components could predict coache's performance in dealing with problems. Therefore, it is expected that those coaches who have higher emotional intelligence have better performance in dealing with problems.
