Seeking for Exegesis of the Quran (Tafsir Al-Quran) by Yunis Ibn Abd Al-Rahman (Retrieval, Validity and Content)

Yunis Ibn Abd Al-Rahman is one of the shia outstanding transmitters of Hadith in the time of Imam Sadiq (AS), Imam Kazim (AS), and Imam Reza (AS). His high status to Imams (AS), wide religious knowledge, deep understanding, loving the Household of the Prophet (AS), resistance on Imamate, being a member of Imamite Companions of Consensus (Ashab Ijma'), and varieties of traditional writings are some of his personalities. His work entitled Exegesis of the Quran (Tafsir Al-Quran) has been reported in sources of narrators of Hadith and their biographies (Tarajimnigari). This book, although known to shia traditionists (Scholars of Hadith) until the third century (AH), has been lost over the time and there is no information about its original source today. The present research tests the hypothesis of the possibility of retrieval of this traditional commentary through using new methods of retrieving lost heritage. The results of the study show that it is possible and applicable to retrieve this traditional commentary and has proved the high validity of its traditions, meanwhile supporting the genuineness of this commentary in the third century (AH).
