Electronic Resource Management in Academic Libraries of Tehran
The aim of this study is identifying electronic resource management in academic libraries of Tehran.
This study is applied and descriptive method. The population of research was all of the managers of academic libraries of governmental universities of Tehran, including 15 subjects. Data gathering was done with a researcher-made questionnaire in 7 sections and 28 criteria (policy, budget, ordering, evaluation, providing and weeding, protection and access).
Findings: 86.7% of the libraries have had a policy for electronic resources. Also, collection development method with 44.4% is done by consortium. In some libraries (46.6%) there is no weeding. Also, there is no protection program for resource. At the end, the most accessible arrangement belongs to familiarity with libraries.
In a practical way the result of present research can be used in promotion of electronic resource management. Also, the results of this study can be used in libraries and other similar organizations and can remove possible weaknesses and increase strengths.
