Comparison of Identity Styles, Coping Styles and Inhibition Behavioral Activation System in Addicted and Normal Persons

Abstract:
Background
The aim of the current study was comparing identity styles, coping styles and inhibition-activation behavioral systems in drug addicted and normal persons. Causative-comparative method used in the study. Statistical population of the study included all drug-addicted persons referred to transient rehabilitation centers of Ardebil during October-Mars 2014-2015.
Materials And Methods
Statistical sampling randomly performed and 150 (75 drug- addicted and75 control) were selected. Data gathered using Berzonsky identity styles (ISI-6G 1998), Endler&Parker’s Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS 1990) and BAS-BIS scale (carver&whiteand 1990) analyzed using Multivriate MANOVA.
Results
Results of the study indicated that there is a meaningful relationship between identity styles, coping styles and inhibition-activation behavioral systems in drug addicted and normal persons.
Conclusion
Thus it can be concluded that confused identity styles and excitement-oriented coping styles are among negative psychological variables that significantly affect drug abuse; so, it requires integrated and proper planning to modify and correct the variables.
