A survey of the relationship between the practice of religious beliefs with anxiety and depression in military personnel

Abstract:
Introduction
Factors affecting the mental health of military personnel due to the stressful nature of the job is profoundly important. Therefore, the present study investigated the role of religious practice in reducing anxiety and depression in these personnel.
Method
This research is Descriptive-Correlational study in which 72 military personnel were selected using Simple random Sampling. Practice of Religious Beliefs Scale (Temple) and the Beck Anxiety and Depression Inventory were administered to them. The collected data were analyzed using pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis.
Results
The results showed that there is a significant and negative relationship between practice of religious beliefs and anxiety and depression.
Discussion
The findings suggested that there is a negative relationship between practice of religious beliefs and anxiety and depression.
