The legal regime governing the decommissioning of offshore oil installations in light of international conventions and Norway and England laws

Abstract:
Oil installations decommissioning is process by which will be decided how moved or dismantled the installations that have reached to end of their lives. Although this is a relatively new topic but especially since the 1990, has attracted much attention at the international level, and a major concern for governments and industries since that time is removal of these installations, and for this reason much efforts has been made to explain various aspect of this topic. Although these efforts have been effective in clarifying various aspect of the decommissioning but still many question especially about the legal aspect of it remains. The main question about this topic is, what is the state’s obligation in the international level? Since we’re not sure on the issue, study of the various documents in the international and inter-regional level and examining of domestic laws of the leading countries on the issue and finding a way for resolving of the problems is the main purpose of this paper.
