Structural model of personality traits, identity styles and social support with mediating alexithymia and defense styles in prevention of suicidal ideation in soldiers

suicidal ideation as one of the most suicidal behavior, is an important predictors of completed suicide. This research was aimed to studding the most important Underlie factors of suicidal ideation in soldiers and Determination the part of every factor.
The current research is correlation research and was conducted by structural equations modeling method. The statistical population was whole of Sepah-e-pasdaran soldiers in Tehran and Alborz that 520 people of they was selected by cluster random sampling and responded to the scales.
The direct and indirect effects of perceived social support, identity styles and personality traits on suicidal ideation was significant in 0.01 and 0.05 and the direct effects of defense styles and alexithymia on suicidal ideation was significant in 0.01.
The observed variables had significant path coefficient with latent its variables this model fitted the data and hypothesized structural relationships was confirmed. The observed variables had significant path coefficient with its latent variables. This model can be used for planning of psychological intervention pattern with aim of prevention and control of suicidal ideation in soldiers, so can be designed and implemented a comprehensive program for screening soldiers who are at risk of suicide or self-mutilation.
