Creating pedestrians to enhance alacrity and vitality in urban spaces (Case Study: Mellat Street, Shahr-e-Kord, between the 21th Muharram Square and Bazaar)

Abstract:
Nowadays, with the rapid growth and going to smart cities, attention to man as the owner and possessor of urban spaces has become dimmed. Perhaps this acceleration and advancement is to meet the future human needs and help reduce his time waste, but unfortunately, it has not been paid enough attention to the most important human need, which is alacrity and vitality in urban spaces. Therefore, alacrity and vitality in urban spaces through the construction of pedestrians were investigated in this study, and Mellat Street in Shahr-e-Kord was selected as a case study. The statistical population included all employees and pedestrians of this street in 2012, with a sample of 171 people, using the Cochran formula. Research method was descriptive-analytic, and data were collected through documentary studies, field observations, questionnaire technique, and interviews. Data were analyzed by SPSS software, using statistical tests, Friedman, Chi-square, t-test and multivariate regression. Findings of this research show that people are interested in building pedestrians in urban spaces, and based on the results of the questionnaire, some of the priorities of a vibrant walkway, from the public's point of view, were: usage diversity, security and safety, Organizing and improving, morale and culture, pause space, and also urban furniture. According to research findings, suggestions have been made to increase the alacrity and vitality of the city, including: creating new usages such as restaurants, coffee shops, cinema… and improving walkways.
