Prediction of depression based on cognitive emotion regulation strategies and marital satisfaction in women

Abstract:
The study aimed to predict depression by cognitive emotion regulation strategies and marital satisfaction in women. The study population consisted of all married women in Isfahan, from among them 400 persons were selected by simple random sampling.. Data were collected through a four questionnaire including Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Garnefski, 2001), Enrich Marital Satisfaction (Fowers & Olson, 1989), DASS-21 Questionnaire (Lovibond & Lovibond, 1995) and demographic characteristics. - Results of regression analysis showed marital relatives 17.7%, Catastrophizing 11.6%, other blame 4.4%, positive refocusing 3.5%, education 1.6%, self-blame 1.2%, friends 0.9% and these seven variables anticipated 40.9% of depression. According to the results, Catastrophizing, other blame, positive refocusing and self-blame among cognitive emotion regulation strategies and marital relatives and friends among levels of marital satisfaction can be assumed as structures that are related to depression symptoms in married women and study them as an important factor in relation to prevention and treatment.
