Studying the Role of Core Competencies in Succession Planning

Abstract:
The aim of the present study is to develop a succession planning model with considering the core competencies needed by key managers in organizations.The society of the present study is all the mangers of Kowsar Economic Organization and it is conducted at the level of the whole population (including managing directors and board members of the affiliated companies and senior management in headquarters of this organization). The present study is a developmental – applied and descriptive – survey study. Data was collected by questionnaire. Validity and reliability of this questionnaire were evaluated statistically by one and two-group Kolmogorov-Smirnov model and Kruskal-Wallis test. results indicats that research hypotheses are confirmed and that among the core competencies, identification of job description has the highest effect on succession planning and that human resource capacity has the highest effect in the model and succession planning has a significant relationship with strategic capabilities in this organization.
