Psychometric Properties and Factor Structure of the Persian Version of the Five Factor Impulsive Behavior Scale

Present study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties and factor structure of Persian version of the five factor impulsive behavior scale.
The number of 352 subjects were selected through available sampling from general population ages 18-60 of Tehran city and were assessed employing five factor Impulsive Behavior Scale, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, and researcher made questionnaires on risky sexual behavior and substance use. Data were analyzed based on Cronbach's alpha test, correlation tests, multivariate variance analysis, and exploratory factor analysis using version 22 of SPSS software.
Internal consistency reliability of impulsivity scale obtained in range of 0/74 to 0/90. The results of exploratory factor analysis confirmed the factor structure of the original scale with less factors. Criterion validity by examining the association between scores of the dimensions of impulsivity and difficulty in impuls control scale showed significant positive correlation between the difficulty in impuls control and positive urgency (r=0.62, P The Persian version of the five factor impulsive behavior scale has acceptable validity and reliability and can be used to predict a variety of risky behaviors including substance use and risky sexual behavior.
