Cultural Challenges Caused by the Lack of proper Farsi fonts in Iran
Early Farsi fonts that arrived with the requirements of the printing industry to Iran, common letters that had not been coordinated with the Iranian Cultural tastes. But necessity and benefits such as fast printing, caused the use of them has been enriched and to be used with a few changes to this day. The leading article, extract and evaluate cultural challenges caused by the lack of Farsi fonts in Iran. This article aims to answer this question, what is the effect of the shortage of appropriate Farsi fonts in Iran? This study is applied research, and is done in a descriptive-analytical procedure. The required data have been collected in a documentary way from printed and electronic sources. The main cultural challenges identified are: the qualitative and quantitative shortage especially in the modern media of transferring written information, the shortage of the comprehensive family of fonts, the shortage of applied fonts in bilingual or multilingual texts, and finally some deficiencies in teaching designing font in a methodical way in Iranian universities. These challenges can change the aesthetics of the users of the Farsi font and in a long time can cause the society to move away from the Iranian-Islamic cultural identity.
