An Investigation of Military Activities of the Saudi-led Coalition with respect to International Humanitarian Law

Abstract:
In March 2015, Saudi Arabia launched a military strike against Yemen in a coalition including: the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain along with Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and Sudan.
According to reports of International organizations, since the beginning of Saudi-led air strikes against Yemen, at least 41,125 civilians have been killed and 70,207 injured.
In this conflict, international humanitarian law must be respected as international obligation in force during armed conflicts to protect civilians. The present article describes how the coalition forces respect the international humanitarian law. For this purpose, in this paper, while briefly explaining the principles of international humanitarian law as the main framework of the discussion, the military actions of the coaltion in Yemen, based on the documents released by international governmental and non-governmental organizations will be studied
