The Relationship Between Cultural Capital and Media Literacy among Youth in the City of Bafgh

Media literacy is a topic that takes into account the power of the audience to understand how the media works and how it works, and wants to turn this analysis into an habit and task for the audience. Accordingly, the present study has examined the relationship between cultural capital and media literacy among young people in Bafgh city. This research has been carried out using survey method and multi-stage cluster sampling on 384 individuals among youth in the city of Bafgh. Data were collected using researcher made questionnaires of cultural capital and media literacy. Data analysis was performed using SPSS and Amos software. Findings showed that between cultural capital and media literacy there was direct and significant relationship (p <0. 001). Among the dimensions of cultural capital, the objective dimension had the strongest relationship with media literacy. Analysing the structural equations model, showed that the impact of cultural capital on media literacy is %0. 57, which indicates the direct relationship between these two variables.
