Effectiveness of cognitive behavioral group therapy on reducing primary sleep disorders and improvement quality of life in rotation shift nurses

Abstract:
Aims
The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of cognitive-behavioral grouptherapy on the treatment of sleep primary disorders and improving the quality of life of revolving shift nurses in police hospitals with through pretest-posttest.
Materials & Methods
The experimental study with pre-test-posttest design with control group was design on nurses of Valiasr hospital. In order to achieve the research goals, among all rotation shift nurses of hospital, 30 patients (male and female) were selected randomly and divided into two groups of 15 (control and experimental) and intervention was performed on the experimental group. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality’ WHOQOL-BREF and a researcher-made questionnaire were used to collect data. For data analysis, covariance analysis methods were used.
Findings
The results of this study indicated that after the treatment there were a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p<0/001). As compared to control group, average of sleep disorder scores decreased in the experimental and the mean scores of quality of life in the experimental group increased compared to the control group.
Conclusion
According to the findings of the research, it can be concluded that cognitive-behavioral group therapy is effective in improving primary sleep disorders and the quality of life of rotational shift nurses.
