Designing E-Learning Software for English Alphabet and its Effect on the Students’ Intrinsic Motivation and Academic Achievement
The aim of the present study is designing e-learning software for teaching English alphabet based on construction approach (e5 model) and its effects on intrinsic motivation and academic achievement of the first guide ( first period of secondary ) students of English course. Two groups of boys and girls took part separately as the control and experimental groups in the pre-test and post-test design. The experimental group was taught the alphabet using educational software (designed) and the control group using conventional techniques (traditional teaching ) within 8 sessions. The data collection instrument was Herman’s achievement motivation questionnaire (2001) which performed at the beginning and end of the course. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics of mean, standard deviation and Levine test, the analysis of variance and t-test were used. The ANCOVA results showed that learning English alphabet through an educational software impact on intrinsic motivation and academic achievement. But comparing the scores of male and female students in the two groups indicated that there is no significant difference between the students in the use of educational software.
