One of the important strategies that have been taken into consideration in the last half century to counter regional imbalances caused by the growing growth of large cities are small towns, which, due to the availability of some facilities and services, are one of the important centers for developmental balance The research is descriptive-analytic, and its purpose is to investigate the role of small cities (25-100 thousand) in sustainable regional development in Alborz province. In order to achieve the position of small towns in the urban system, rank-size models, entropy and balance sheets have been used, and then their role in regional development balance has been evaluated. The results show that the entropy coefficient without considering small cities is also a continuation imbalance Will have. In the logarithmic model, the rank of size, with the inclusion of small towns, slipped to -1.99, and with no small cities down to -21.1, which indicates the undeniable role of small cities in the urban system and the results of the balance sheet model The changes in components are mainly in-class and due to the growth of cities, and only in 2006, due to the transformation of villages into the city of Shahdad, we have been affected by changes in new cities.
