Promised Millennials in Christian Theology and Characteristics of Millennial Movements; Theoretical Approaches
One of the components of religious finalist literature is the concept of millennialism or the promised millennia. In Christianity, the idea of millennialism, which means believing in the apocalypse, is linked to the belief in the return of Christ, the establishment of His rule, redemption, and salvation. The objective manifestation and practical example of this idea is reflected in the millennial movements. The scope of these movements necessitates analytical-critical studies of the nature and causes of their development. Therefore, the present article seeks to explore the views expressed on these movements by adopting a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings of this study, while showing various theoretical approaches in the nature of millennial movements, indicate the influence of social and psychological elements in the formation of these movements. Along with these factors, millennialism has been an ideological and sensible response to the oppression of governments and colonial powers.
