The Genealogy of "Qisar" Narrations in "Tuhaf Aleuqul"

The book "The Tuhaf Aleuqul Aan Al Alrasul" (PBUH) by Hassan al-Bannah al-Harrani contains short and long narrations "Tiwal w Qisar" of the Prophet (PBUH) to Imam Hassan Askari (AS), the main feature of which is a cut in the document (sanad). In addition to the cut in the document (sanad), according to the author, the wise sentences similar to the narrations of the Imams (as) have also been quoted in this book and the author has attributed them to the Imams (as). Citing these words to the Imams (as) clarifies the necessity of retrieving this group of narrations and their genealogy in order to determine their status. For this reason, in this article, 638 short narrations (Qisar) of Imam Ali (AS) to Imam Hassan Askari (AS) in the Tuhaf Aleuqul have been examined. The findings of this study show that there is no conclusive evidence in the attribution of 12 narrations from the total narrations of "Qisar" in the Tuhaf Aleuqul to the Imams (as). Some of these expressions are in the form of wisdoms of sages, poets, ascetics or have been recorded by unknown narrators in other sources. Others are historical narrations or proverbs attributed to the Imam (as). Also, more than 14% of the narrations do not have a background in the available sources and have been quoted for the first time in the Tuhaf Aleuqul. The present article, in a descriptive method, seeks to trace the historical origins of the narrations of the Tuhaf Aleuqul.
