Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to compare modesty, self-compassion, and attachment styles to God between divorced and ordinary couples seeking Gorgan in 1979. The research method is descriptive and causal-comparative. The statistical population included all couples applying for divorce in the Gorgan city court in the winter of 1977, as well as ordinary couples who did not have a divorce record. For this purpose, 120 divorced couples (60 males and 60 females) and 120 normal couples (60 males and 60 females) were selected by targeted and voluntary sampling and completed modesty questionnaires, summarized-form (Golzari, 2000), self-compassion, Short form (Raes et al, 2011) and attachment styles to God-summarized form (M-SAS). Analysis was used to MANOWA the data. Findings showed that there was significant difference between divorce applicant and normal couples in modesty and attachment styles to God, but no significant difference was found in self-compassion scale. Overall, divorced couples have less modesty and attachment styles than normal couples, but self-compassion is not different. Given the results of the present study and the increasing divorce rate in the community, it is suggested to provide the necessary education for couples in order to increase their life permanence.
