Comparison of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies and Mental Disordersin Addicted and Ordinary People
The purpose of the present study was to comparecognitive emotion regulation strategies and psychological distress in addicted and normal individuals.
Thisdescriptive study was a causal-comparative study. Thestatistical population of this study was all those referring toaddiction treatment in Mashhad city who were referred toaddiction treatment clinic in winter 97. Sixty addicts and 60normal individuals were selected by convenience sampling.The DERS-Gertz and Romer 2004 Cognitive EmotionRegulation Strategies Questionnaires, Depression, Anxiety,and Stress Scale (DASS-21) and Lovebound 1995 were used to measure the variables studied.
The resultsshowed that mental disorder in addicts is more than normalpeople and cognitive emotion regulation strategies in addictsare less than normal people.
These findingsindicate that inability to cognitive regulation of emotionsand lack of control of psychological disorder in addicts aretwo important components. Therefore, considering these twocomponents is essential for educational services, pathologyand counseling
