The Relationship between Social Support and Parental Identity Style, and Coping Strategies Dimensions in High School Female Adolescents of Damavand City
The present paper aimed to study the relationship between social support and parental identity style, and coping strategies dimensions in high school female adolescents of Damavand city. The research plan was a correlational one, multivariate regression. The research population included all female students of high schools in Damavand in academic year of 2011-2012. The sample based on Morgan Chart included 330 high school students selected by random- classified sampling method from the second and third high school grades. The students' fields of study were: physics, mathematics, empirical sciences and human sciences. Generally, 110 students were selected. Data gathering tools were social support questionnaire, coping strategies and identity styles. In order to analyze the research questions, multivariate regression parameter tests were used. The research results showed that: 1) there was a significant relationship between social support and identity style, and coping strategies dimensions and based of this the first research question was confirmed; 2) there was a positive and significant relationship between identity style and coping strategies dimensions; so, the second research question was confirmed. Therefore social support and identity style can predict coping strategies significantly.
