The Relationship between Quality of Working Life and Job Satisfaction in Exceptional School Teachers
Each organization requires different resources to achieve its goals. Furthermore, human resources are undoubtedly the most critical capital in any organization. Job satisfaction is among the most essential issues at the managerial and human resource levels of organizations. This concept significantly impacts organizational progression as well as workforce health. Job satisfaction varies depending on the quality of working life. The quality of working life is not only affected by job satisfaction, but also by satisfaction in other life aspects, such as family satisfaction, leisure, social life, and financial status. Therefore, the focus of quality of working life is beyond job satisfaction; it includes the impact of the work environment on job satisfaction, contentment in non–residential dimensions, and mental health. One of the variables affecting the quality of working life is the degree of satisfaction with onechr('39')s job. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between job satisfaction and the quality of working life among the teachers of exceptional schools in Tehran City, Iran.
This descriptive–analytical study was conducted on 244 students of Tehranchr('39')s exceptional schools in 2018 that were selected by cluster random sampling method. After conducting the normalization test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used to analyze the relationship between demographic characteristics and job satisfaction and the quality of working life. T–test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze the obtained data in SPSS.
The achieved results indicated that the average value of job satisfaction of teachers in exceptional schools was equal to 74.7%, i.e., teachers in exceptional schools were satisfied with their career. Furthermore, the average score of quality of working life for exceptional school teachers was calculated as 80.63%, indicating their high quality of working life. The correlation coefficient between the quality of working life and job satisfaction was computed as 0.751, and there was a positive and significant relationship between these variables.
According to the results of the study, exceptional school teachers have a good working life quality and job satisfaction. Improving the quality of working life can lead to greater job satisfaction in teachers in these schools and improve the provision of educational services to students.
