Health, Safety and Environmental Risk Assessment of Urban Wastewater Treatment Plants

Risk assessment is a method of quantifying and quantifying the risks and consequences of potential accidents on individuals, materials, equipment and the environment. By doing so, the effectiveness of existing control methods will be identified and valuable data will be provided to make risk reduction decisions. The purposes of wastewater treatment can be classified into three main groups: provision of health conditions for people's lives, environmental cleanliness, reuse of wastewater (treated wastewater). In the last two decades, the rate of wastewater use for agricultural irrigation has increased due to the scarcity of water resources for agriculture, ensuring that the health hazards and soil degradation in the use of wastewater for agricultural irrigation have been met by taking the necessary precautions and observing standards. Recommendations will be minimized and socio-cultural validity increased. This study assessed the risks that municipal sewage treatment plants can create. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the risks of treatment plants with up-to-date methods and techniques and to provide control strategies to manage these risks. The study first identified the risks posed by urban wastewater treatment plants by visiting and consulting environmental experts. Subsequently, risk analysis, any deviation or accident was identified using the preliminary risk analysis method. According to the PHA risk assessment results, 22 environmental risks were identified prior to corrective actions, of which 11 were high priority, 8 high priority, 2 medium priority and 1 low priority. In other words, 50% of the aspects are at very high risk level, which after 2 corrective actions becomes high risk, 13 moderate risk and 7 low priority risk. Finally, corrective actions can reduce the very high risks associated with corrective actions.
