Structural Adjustment Policies in Construction Government and Economic Weakness Indicators in Iran

With the emergence of neoliberal policies since the early 1980s, many countries have sought development in the form of these policies. In the meantime, the policy of structural adjustment as a cornerstone of economic neoliberalism has been implemented in many countries, including Iran. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects and consequences of structural adjustment during construction, especially its impact on economic misery indexes. The method used was library-documents. Both the unemployment rate and the inflation rate were used to calculate the misery index, and the economy and price liberalization policy were used as the basis of the structural adjustment policy. The results showed that the misery index was associated with growth from the first period to the end of the construction period, indicating the deterioration of the economy of the country, with misery rate reaching 17.4% in 1989 and 58.5% in 1995, indicating that the country It is witnessing a hyperinflation and a critical unemployment rate. Other negative consequences of structural adjustment policies include rising inflation (from 17.4% to 49.4%) that the sudden deregulation of prices and cuts in government support for the low-income strata have in fact reduced the purchasing power of the population and exacerbated pressure on the population.
