Analysis of the Relationship between Managers Moral Behavior & Employees' Social Futility: The Mediating Role of Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Abstract:
Background

Government agencies need to improve the ethical behavior of managers and employees in order for their mission to be effective. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of managerschr('39') moral behavior in the level of social invalidity of employees, considering the mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior in government organizations.

Method

The research method was descriptive correlational. The community consisted of all managers and employees of government agencies in Kohkiloye and Boyer-Ahmad Provinces. Simple random sampling was used to select the samples and the number of samples studied in this study was 375 people. To test the research hypotheses, standard questionnaires were used to measure managerschr('39') moral behavior, citizenship behavior, organizational behavior, and social-vanity. In order to analyze the data with Smart-PLS software, the method of structural equation analysis and path analysis using the least squares method (PLS) was used.

Results

The results showed that managers chr('39')ethical behavior has a negative and significant relationship with employeeschr('39') social futility. The results also show that managerschr('39') ethical behavior has a positive and significant relationship with organizational citizenship behavior. The results of a negative and significant relationship between organizational citizenship behavior with social invalidity and moral behavior of managers with social invalidity of employees according to the mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior are also confirmed.

Conclusion

Managers of public organizations can use ethical behaviors and behaviors such as building trust, meritocracy, excellence, supportive behaviors, thoughtful behaviors, knowledge sharing and respectful behavior with co-managers and developing interpersonal relationships. Friendship, chivalry, humility and modesty have increased employee conscientiousness and virtue, the promotion of which will lead to a reduction in immorality and social futility.
