The Role of Holographic Technology and Video Mapping in Performance Arts in the 21st Century

The goal of this study is to investigate the necessity of holographic technology, video-mapping technology and create fantasy in the viewer’s mind by these two technologies in order to attract directors and scenic designers attention. The accurate understanding and introducing these two technologies to the theatrical community of Iran will help the development of such performing arts. Today, theatre and technology are used as complementary in most developed countries. It is obvious that theater and technology must be synchronized, however, compared to the international arena, Iran is far from this criteria. The use of holographic technology and video-mapping in the 21st century theater and performing arts has attracted many directors and designers attention. It is expected that these technologies to be used more widely in theater and other performing arts in the future. In recent decades theater in Iran has not been based on a specific school or theoretical framework. Such studies may help theater artists in Iran, to better understand the various possibilities of using technology in their work in the future.
