Students' tendency toward superstitious beliefs (case study of Payame Noor University of Hamedan)

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to measure the students' beliefs about the prevalent superstitions that are descriptive-correlational in terms of research method. The statistical population of this study is all students studying in Payame Noor University of Hamedan in 2015-16. The sample group consisted of 120 students (53 boys and 67 girls) who were studying in 2015-16 from Payame Noor University of Nahavand. They were selected by random stratified sampling from different faculties who responded to the questionnaire. Data analysis was done by using stepwise regression analysis and multivariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) and SPSS software. A researcher-made questionnaire was arranged with 58 items and was distributed among the population of the statistical community to find out about the views, beliefs, and opinions of the statistical community, and the necessary data were collected. The results of this study indicate that very few students tend to superstitions. There is a significant relationship between student's level of education and superstition. In addition, the tendency to superstition in female students is more than male students, and this does not have a significant relationship with the degree of female students' level of education.
