Abstract:

The present study was done with the aim of relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction with an emphasis on comparing the Islamic model of aspiration performance and the theory of self-determination.The research method was based on library and field data and the statistical sample consisted of 250 students who were selected from among the students of Allameh Tabatabai University through the available sampling method.Data collection tools were in the library section, Islamic authentic sources and in the field section, Aspiration Index and Satisfaction with Life Scale. In psychological resources can be achieved at least three perspectives on the relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction; existence of relationship,non-existence of relationship, and dual relationship, based on the Intrinsic - Extrinsic aspirations. self- determination theory has acknowledged the positive effect of Intrinsic aspirations on life satisfaction and, conversely, the negative impact of Extrinsic aspirations.based on Islamic Amal Operation Model that includes two subsystems: ‘Aql-oriented approaching sub system (‘aql lit. intellect) and Jahl oriented avoidance subsystem (jahl lit. ignorance), operates through three processes of expansion of Amal, shortening of Amal, and lengthening of Amal. The results also showed that the relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction is a dual process. In the first process mediated by ‘Aql structure, the aspirations have an increasing role in life satisfaction, while in the second process mediated by Jahl structure, the aspirations play a decreasing role in life satisfaction. this study in the field are a confirmation of Islam's view on the relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction.
