The Iranian-Islamic model of the desirable city in Mulla Sadra's opinion
Nowadays, in urban planning theory, desirable cities have been proposed by western theorists, which have had a significant impact on the formation of cities in the world. These ideas have caused a kind of confusion among citizens and designers because they do not conform to the Iranian-Islamic model. This research aimed at proposing an Iranian- Islamic model of the desirable city in Mulla Sadra's thought, as a step towards explaining the Iranian- Islamic model of progress. This qualitative research has tried to study the Iranian- Islamic model of the desirable city in Mulla Sadra's thought in his authorial books using the grounded data theory conceptualization. Since the transcendent wisdom is considered as the exaltation of Iranian-Islamic intellectual and philosophical thought, it is introduced as a substitute for the western examples. The research method was qualitative based on documentary analytical-descriptive approach. Considering society besides individuals, paying attention to the social nature of the human beings, philosopher rulers, attention to self, monotheistic laws, reason, cooperation and collaboration of society and collective movement toward achieving perfection among citizens are special issues mentioned by Mulla Sadra on desirable city. This philosopher emphasizes improving of the material and spiritual life of the citizens and paying enough attention to the spiritual affairs in the urban spaces as main issues in introducing desirable city.
