Abstract:
Objective

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of government expenditures and expenditures on sports expenses of Iranian households.

Methodology

The present study is a descriptive-analytic study using data mining. Due to the nature of the subject, its data was collected using a library method. The short-term and long-term effects of government expenditures on sport budgets of Iranian households, using the annual statistics and data of the variables during 1993 to 2013, were investigated through ARDL and ECM models.

Results

The results of the research have shown that the government expenditures and GDP have a positive and significant effect on the sports budget of households in Iran in the short term. But the results did not confirm the long-term effects of government expenditures on private sports use in Iran.

Conclusion

Adopting appropriate financial policies by governments can help expand the consumption of households and, consequently increase participation rate in sport
