Psychometric Characteristics of Persian Version of the Commitment to Physical Activity Scale for Adolescents
Regular physical activity is beneficial for the physical, mental, and social aspects of adolescents' health. Valid and reliable tools are needed to measure adolescents' commitment to physical activity. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of Persian version of the Commitment to Physical Activity Scale for Adolescents.
The statistical sample consisted of female students of Arak city who were selected by available sampling method. Participants completed the demographic characteristics questionnaire and the Commitment to Physical Activity Scale for Adolescents (Robbins et al., 2016). Data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha.
The results showed that the goodness of fit index and comparative fit index were higher than (0.90). Also, the results showed that Cronbach's alpha coefficient for Commitment to Physical Activity Scale and its dimensions was above 0.7 (the value of acceptable index).
In general, the results showed that the Persian version of the the Commitment to Physical Activity Scale in Iranian adolescents had acceptable validity and reliability. Therefore, this questionnaire can be used for educational and research purposes.
