Effectiveness of Waterpolo Exercise on Improving Communication Skills and Social Interactions in Autistic Children

Communication skills and social interactions are important in the lives of children with autism. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of etherplo on improving communication skills and social interactions in children with autism.

The research method was quasi-experimental and follow-up with two experimental and control groups. For this purpose, using the sampling method available among children in Tabriz, and were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group then performed water polo training and games for 6 weeks. In this study, communication skills and social interaction questionnaires were used as data collection tools.

Water polo practice reduced stereotyped behaviors and increased social interaction and communication interaction of autistic children significantly (P = 0.01) in the experimental group, but in the control group stereotyped behaviors and social interaction significantly decreased (P = 0.01). ), had. Also, there was no significant decrease or increase in communication skills of autistic children in the control group.

According to the results of the study, it can be stated that water polo has an effect on improving the social interactions of autistic children and these interventions can be used to improve communication skills of these children.
