Identifying a standardized criterion for determining the physical capabilities of nominees for each field of study in Armed Forces Universities: A case study of Imam Khomeini University Of Naval Sciences

This study is to design and standardize a criterion for IRI Armed Forces cadets with a focus on movement and physical capabilities and, as a result, Imam Khomeini Naval Academy has been considered as a case study.

The research method and type is field-descriptive and applied. After designing assessment test of the movement and physical capabilities by using the motor behavior experts’ ideas and considering the analysis of the skills of a Navy officer who should be learned during his trainings, its content and stations' decoration were confirmed by sport experts. The reliability and validity were measured by retesting method being in a significant level. Data was collected through field measurement; to determine the level of movement skills in Navy branches, the Delphi method was used; the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were calculated (α= 0. 87). The study population was the cadets of Imam Khomeini naval academy between 1391-92. Based on Morgan table, 260 cadets were selected randomly. T and Z tests are used to establish data analysis and desired norm.

These tests measures the followings; dynamic stability, the explosive power of legs, shoulder and pelvic girdle muscular endurances, physical agility, coordination of organs and cardiorespiratory endurance done as a set of stationary tests in field track.

The Criterion for dividing the cadets into different fields of studies and determining the importance of each movement abilities were developed and found out at the university and its result as a coefficient was used the results of the test. Therefore, after administering the questionnaire for two times, the final result which was a standard criterion for assessing the movement and body abilities for determining the fields of the studies of the cadets was achieved.
