The Educational Strategies of Surah Yusuf (AS) Based on the Psychological Concept of "Psychological Defense"

One of the basic elements in the discussion of personality is to know the mechanisms of psychological defense and how to deal with them. The "psychological defense mechanism" refers to emotion-oriented measures that humans use to control stress, frustration, and hopeless to reduce psychological damage. This article is an interdisciplinary research that is descriptive-analytical with the aim of recognizing the psychological concept of "psychological defense mechanism" in Surah Yusuf (AS) and explaining educational strategies for these behaviors and providing Qur’anic strategies to achieve the correct approach to maladaptive behaviors has been written. The research question is "What strategies does the Qur'an in Surah Yusuf (AS) recommend for educating the society in order to manage and correct the maladaptive behaviors that can be analyzed with the concept of psychological defense?" The present article, by asking the psychological concept of "psychological defense mechanism" from the Qur'an, explains the Qur'an's view on the subject and presents Qur'anic strategies for achieving it. One of the results of this study is to explain the six mechanisms of "reasoning, projection, devaluation and rationalization, linkage and artificial contamination" and six educational strategies in Surah Yusuf (AS), which are two strategies of "interpretation of behavior and reassurance" The new approach includes "family support, desensitization, reminding and storytelling." The result is that, in the Qur'an, appropriate behavior in dealing with these people is presented in such a way that by increasing knowledge and will among the people of society, they can eliminate their inner humiliation and find their self-esteem.
