Incorrect Interpretation of Mahdism Narrations by the Waqifite Movement

Mahdism is one of the most important issues for Islam and the Imami Shiite religion, which has always been abused by some claimants and their followers over time. Waqifite was one of the deviant movements that at the beginning of the Imamate of Imam Reza (A.S), while confronting the Shiite Imamate, changed the course of Mahdism and broke the unity of the Shiite community. The actions of this movement in order to establish its position in spiritual distortion and misinterpretation of narrations related to Mahdism were such that it provoked a special reaction from Imam Reza (A.S). This article, with a brief reference to the misuse of Waqifite from some narrations related to the subject of Mahdism, and presentation of misinterpretations and manipulations of the text of the hadith, has examined some of the actions of the followers of the Waqifite in the spiritual and verbal distortion of Mahdavi narrations.
