The Psychometric Properties of RADS Adolescents depression

The purpose of the   present study is to investigate primarypsychometric properties of the version Persian of RADS adolescents’ depression scale in     adolescents between the age of 11 and 19, using factor analysis.

a sample of 400 students – 200 females and 200 males – was selected through Convenience sampling from amongst high- and middle school students in Tehran. In order to measure the divergent/convergent validity, at the same time with scale,  KADSadolescent depression, Children Depression Inventory, children’s hopelessness and adolescent’s self-efficacy scale were distributed. For measuring the first-time analysis of confirmatory factor structure of the RADS adolescents depression scale, the WLS method was utilized; while for evaluating the adequacy of the model the following indices were used: (RMR, RMSEA, CFI, IGFI, GFI, ….)

The factor structure of the RADS adolescent’s depression scale was affirmed using confirmatory factor analysis. An analysis of correlation coefficients revealed that the RADS adolescent’s depression scale has a meaningful positive relation with the KADS adolescent depression, Children Depression Inventory, children’s hopelessness and a meaningful negative relation with the scale of self-efficacy, which indicates a convergent and divergent for RADS.

the first-time factor structure of the scale of RADS adolescents’ depression scale showed a better validity with the displayed data. The confirmatory factor structure and validity of the scale of RADS adolescents depression scale was relatively acceptable for research purposes and clinical diagnosis.
