An analysis of the economic situation of the borders during the rule of the rulers of Al-Buwayh in the fourth century AHCase Study: Baghdad
The economy of Baghdad in the period before the arrival of Al-Buwayh was weak due to the policies of the Abbasid caliphs and their weakness and lack of support for development and economic affairs. The city of Baghdad was in ruins and huge taxes were levied on the people, which caused dissatisfaction among the people. The Al-Buwayh period (327-447 AH) was one of the most important historical periods in Iraq in the fourth and fifth centuries AH in terms of economic endeavors. Hence, the domination of Al-Buwayh over Baghdad is significant. This period is important because some Buwayhid emirs such as Mu'izz al-Dawla, Izz al-Dawla and Az-Dawla were more influential than the period before their arrival in Baghdad and the attention and importance of the rulers to the economy and increasing the welfare and prosperity of the people. In this regard, the rulers built dams, bridges, civil and industrial, and secured roads to facilitate the movement of trade caravans. In this article, which is a descriptive-analytical approach, the author has evaluated the factors affecting the economy of Baghdad in the Al-Buwayh period and has concluded that borders also have a significant impact on economic power and the amount of trade between different countries. And it is obvious that the security or insecurity of the border will have a direct impact on the number and quality of trade caravans and will have one of the most important roles in the economic prosperity of the country.
