Relationship between professional learning community and organizational innovation: Model presentation

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the professional learning community and organizational innovation in order to present a model in Islamic Azad universities in Tehran. This was a correlational study using structural equations. The statistical population of this study included 1961 faculty members of Tehran Azad University, of whom 320 were selected as study sample based on Cochran's formula and using stratified random sampling method according to their academic rank. A researcher-made professional learning community questionnaire including 87 items and the organizational innovation questionnaire of Ismail et al. (2002) including 33 items were used to collect the data. The face and content validities of the instruments were confirmed by experts, and their combined reliability and Cronbach's alpha were calculated to be above 0.7, confirming the reliability. Structural equation test was used to analyze the data. The results of data analysis showed there is a positive and significant relationship between professional learning community and organizational innovation in Islamic Azad universities of Tehran with a standard coefficient of 0.710, and the proposed model has a suitable fit. Therefore, based on the research findings, it is suggested that in order for organizational innovation to take place in university, the professional learning community in the university should be promoted.
