Constructing and Analyzing the Psychometric Characteristics of a Scale of Moral Attributes among Women
This descriptive-correlational study aimed to construct and analyze the psychometric characteristics of a scale of moral attributes among women. The population was all girl students living in the city of Urmia. 724 girls selected by the cluster sampling responded to a scale of moral attributes. The data were analyzed by the exploratory factor analysis. Based on it, 12 following factors were extracted: punishment-based ethics, reward, social proof, law, social contracts, internalized ethics, super-ego, cognitive inference, religious rites, observational learning, moral sensitivity, and executive skills. These factors could explain 62.74% of total variance of the test. To evaluate the validity of the questionnaire, content validity, construct validity, and factor analysis were applied that the obtained indicators showed an acceptable validity. Cronbach's alpha used for calculating the reliability was 0.88. According to the results, the psychometric characteristics of the scale has a favorable capability, and it can be used to measure women's moral attributes and other researches in the field of the psychology of ethics.
