Effectiveness of Quality of Life Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in Loneliness among Female Undergraduate Students with Smartphones Addiction

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of quality of life Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in the loneliness of students with addiction to smartphones. Therefore, among female undergraduate psychology students of Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch, 45 people were purposefully selected according to cutoff score on the Smart Phone Addiction Scale (SAS) and were randomly assigned to two experimental groups and one control group (15 subjects in each group). Pretest was administered by lonliness scale in the study groups. Then, subjects in the experimental groups received 8 sessions of two hours training on quality of life therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, however,  the control group received no training. At the last session, the loneliness scale was again administered to all three groups. Results of univariate analysis of covariance showed that compared to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, quality of life therapy was more effective in reducing loneliness (p < 0/01).
