A Survey of Hospitalized patients' view about the protection of Privacy in a Teaching Hospital in Zabol
The protection of Privacyis one of the fundamentalrights of every human being. Nurses are expected to respect patients' privacy while providing nursing care. The purpose of this study was to identifyHospitalized patients' view about the protection of Privacy during nursing care in a Teaching Hospital inZabol.
This is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was performed on 322 hospitalized patients in one of the teaching hospitals of Zabol city. Random samplingmethodwas used. Questionnaire was used for data collection. Data were analyzed by SPSS 19 software using descriptive and inferential statistics.
From the patients' point of view, respect for human territory and personal space was excellent. The least respect for human realmand personal spacefrom the perspective of patientswas related tocaring for a nurse in the operating room, explaining to patients before caring procedures and maintaining patient coverage. The mean personal space of female patients was more than male. However, this difference was not statistically significant (p value= 0.82).
The patients' privacy was satisfactory in the surviedhospital. However, it is necessary to take measures to improve it.
