The Right to Health of the Elderly in the Light of the International Human Rights System

The right to health for the elderly is currently one of the most important and complex issues at the international level. In the present study, the right to health of the elderly will be discussed in the light of international norms and the trends and perspectives of effective implementation of this right will be identified.

This research is of theoretical type and the research method is descriptive-analytical and the method of data collection is library and has been done by referring to documents, books and articles.

Three different approaches have been adopted in relation to the rights of the elderly. Among these approaches, the approach of European governments seems to be realistic and practical. In Europe, by resorting to non-binding documents and solutions, there is an attempt to create synchronicity and unity of procedure in the space of relations between subjects and actors. That is why non-binding obligations are defined as "precise" and "partial" for governments.

In order to organize this research, while observing the authenticity of the texts, honesty and fidelity have been observed.

It seems that the existing norms should be interpreted for the status of the right to health of the elderly. We must also constantly emphasize that age-based discrimination in access to health care, rehabilitation, modern therapies, pharmacy and health information, poor living conditions, within the framework of international human rights, it violates the right of the elderly to enjoy the highest levels of physical and mental health.
