Abstract:

This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of schema therapy on mental well-being (emotional, psychological and social) of mothers with autistic children. This research was a semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with an experimental and control groups. Research population was mothers with autistic children of Gorgan township in 2017 year. From the members of the community were selected 30 people by available sampling method and randomly with lottery divided into two equal groups. The experimental group 10 sessions of 90 minutes trained by schema therapy. Data collected with the questionnaires of mental well-being (Keyes & Magyar-Moe, 2003). Data analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance method. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the groups in terms variables of emotional, psychological and social well-being. In the other words, schema therapy significantly led to increase the emotional, psychological and social well-being of mothers with autistic children .
