Identifying the factors affecting the spatial planning of sports facilities in Tehran Municipality

The purpose of this study was to identifying the factors affecting the spatial planning of sports facilities in Tehran Municipality. The qualitative research method was exploratory. The statistical population of the research included the managers of Tehran Municipality, specialists and some university professors in the executive, scientific and research fields in the present research field. The sampling method was purposeful and the research tool was the protocol of interviews with experts until the theoretical saturation continued (15 interviews). In total, 16 factors were identified on the spatial planning of sports venues, which were obtained in the form of 4 main categories. These categories include; Managerial factors are economic factors, cultural and social factors, and physical and infrastructural factors. According to the research findings, it seems that paying attention to the above factors will lead to proper distribution based on the needs and interests of citizens and prevent urban ecological damage.
