The Character of Habib b. Muzahir
Habib b. Muzahir was a staunch companion of the Prophet Muhammad, Imam Ali, Imam al-Hasan, and Imam al-Husayn. When Yazid got to power, Habib b. Muzahir and many Shii noblemen of Kufah wrote letters of invitation to Imam al-Husayn, requesting him to rush to Kufah as their leader. He was one of earliest people who paid an oath of allegiance to Muslim b. Aqil as the delegate of Imam al-Husayn to Kufah. He also encouraged many people to join Muslim b. Aqil so as to strengthen the camp of Imam al-Husayn. As soon as Imam al-Husayn reached Karbala, he hid himself from the spies of Ibn Ziyad for security reasons and left Kufah at night time and joined him there. He was finally martyred on Ashura.
